MONKLEIGH COACHMANS COTTAGE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to Coachmans Cottage, a delightful self-catering cottage nestled through an archway in a picturesque cobbled courtyard within the grounds of Monkleigh village's historic old rectory. With parts dating back over 400 years, this charming retreat holds a rich history, believed to be the original bakehouse for the main house. The authenticity of its past is preserved with the original bread oven still in place, standing to the side of the wood-burning stove.

Situated on the edge of Monkleigh village, Coachmans offers a tranquil escape within easy walking distance of the welcoming village inn, The Bell, renowned for its excellent food and friendly atmosphere. The cottage finds itself in a peaceful location, surrounded by extensive gardens spanning approximately 3 acres. A highlight is the large wildlife garden featuring a serene pond, creating an idyllic setting for relaxation and communion with nature.

These beautiful grounds are available for the exclusive enjoyment of those staying at the cottage, complete with garden furniture and a small charcoal barbecue for al fresco moments. It's important to note that the grounds are extensive and unfenced, requiring supervision for children to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Off-road parking is conveniently available right in front of the cottage, allowing for easy access to this enchanting retreat.

LIVING AREAS:

Within the level open-plan social space, the wood-burning stove takes centre stage, serving as a captivating focal point that radiates ample cosy heat throughout the cottage, creating an inviting atmosphere regardless of the time of year you choose to visit. To enhance your comfort, additional wood is provided free of charge (upon request) ensuring the warmth and allure of a crackling fire for the duration of your stay.

KITCHEN / DINING:

Step into the cosy combined lounge/kitchen/dining room, where the charm of exposed beams imparts a rustic feel, adding character to the space. The dining area features a table and chairs that comfortably seat two, with the option for a high chair available upon request. A convenient under-stair cupboard houses various essentials, including a vacuum cleaner, ironing board, and brooms, ensuring that your practical needs are well catered to.
The well-equipped kitchen area boasts a modern built-in electric cooker and hob, a microwave oven, and a thoughtfully curated selection of kitchen equipment. Whether you're preparing a quick snack or a gourmet meal, you'll find the tools you need to create culinary delights.

For added convenience, a freezer is provided within the cottage, and a washing machine, along with additional sink facilities, can be found in an adjacent building - the former dairy. Adjacent to the bedroom is a well-appointed bathroom offering a full-size bath complete with a hand-held shower attachment. A heated towel rail ensures your towels are warm and ready for use, while an electric shaver point caters to your grooming needs.

Guests have complimentary access to approximately 3 acres of expansive gardens, fields, and grounds that surround the cottage.
